He holds a degree in business and economics and has been a director of Piaggio & C. S.p.A. since 2003; from 2004 to August 2023 he served as vice chairman.
He is a shareholder and executive chairman of Omniaholding and the Immsi Industrial Group.
He is a member of the board of directors of Confindustria.
From 2008 to 2022 he was a Member of Parliament for three terms.
In 2008, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the first time, as the leader in Milan. He was re-elected to the Chamber in 2013 and 2018.
He was minister of economic development in the shadow government of the Democratic Party, a member of the leadership and economic officer of the national secretariat of the Democratic Party.
From 2019 to 2022 he was group leader of Italia Viva in the European Union Policies Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
From 2005 to 2008, he served as national president of Confindustria Young Entrepreneurs.
He began his employment with the Sogefi Group.
Since 1998 he has continued his professional experience by devoting himself to Omniaholding following his father Roberto, founder of the holding company that controls the Immsi and Piaggio industrial group.
On October 5, 2024, he was received in audience by Pope Francis, who awarded him the honor of Gentleman of His Holiness.
