Mariastella Gelmini

Speaker - Biography

Mariastella Gelmini is currently a Member of Parliament and Chair of the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (COPASIR).

Throughout his career he has held senior institutional positions, including Minister of Regional Affairs and Autonomies and previously Minister of Education, University and Research.

His political and institutional activities have always been oriented toward the issues of administrative simplification, innovation and support for the competitiveness of the Italian production system.

With a solid experience in government and parliamentary representation, he now carries on an ongoing commitment to strengthening Italy's role in new international scenarios and in dialogue with European institutions.
