Director of the Customs Directorate of DG Taxud at the European Commission, a body tasked with managing, defending and ensuring the development of the Customs Union. Among the tasks of DG Taxud is the draft reform of the Union Customs Code.

A lawyer by training, he gained extensive experience in European institutions. He joined the European Commission in 1995, where he worked on trade and the EU market.
